Thomas Maribo is senior researcher at Public Health and Quality Improvement, Central Denmark Region, focusing on Community Based Rehabilitation. Dr Maribo is also an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health Aarhus University. He is a trained physiotherapist and has worked with rheumatology, orthopaedics and occupational medicine in clinical settings. As head of the programme of community based rehabilitation at Public Health and Quality Improvement he has a special interest in the implementation of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) with special focus on clinical practice. One of his goals is to implement ICF-based Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in clinical practice and to implement an electronic version of the ICF (the ICanFunction App) to empower patients to better describe their needs to clinicians. Since 2000 he has had a special focus on outcome measures in rehabilitation and physical functioning, e.g. while building the web-based database for outcome measures in physical functioning (in Danish www.maaleredskaber.dk). Dr Maribo’s PhD was on outcome measures for assessing balance in patients with chronic low back pain. Since 2011 he has been involved with a programme on outcome measures in stroke rehabilitation with special focus on the transition from hospital to community based rehabilitation.
